Meaning: The predecessor of a number is the number that comes just before it.

Rule: Predecessor of a number \(n\) is \(n - 1\).

Apply the rule: Here, \(n = 100000\).

So we find \(100000 - 1\).

Subtract: \(100000 - 1 = 99999\).

Check: If we add 1 back — \(99999 + 1 = 100000\) — so \(99999\) is just before \(100000\).

Therefore, the predecessor of \(100000\) is 99999.
