Step 1: Look at the ones place (the last digit) of the number.

Step 2: If the last digit is 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8, the number is an even number.

Step 3: Every even number can be written as a multiple of 2.

In math form, write a number as:

\( \text{number} = 2 \times k \)

for some whole number \( k \).

Conclusion: If the last digit is 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8, the number is divisible by 2.

Quick examples:

• \( 24 \) → last digit is \( 4 \).
  \( 24 = 2 \times 12 \). Divisible by 2.
• \( 108 \) → last digit is \( 8 \).
  \( 108 = 2 \times 54 \). Divisible by 2.

Not divisible by 2:

• \( 37 \) → last digit is \( 7 \) (not in 0,2,4,6,8). Not divisible by 2.
• \( 915 \) → last digit is \( 5 \). Not divisible by 2.
