1. Start with the given sum:

   (( -80 ) + 0 + ( -90 ))

2. Adding zero does not change a number:

   (( -80 ) + 0 = -80)

3. Now add (-90) to (-80):

   (-80 + ( -90 ))

4. Both numbers are negative, so keep the minus sign and add the sizes:

   (-80 + ( -90 ) = - ( 80 + 90 ))

   (80 + 90 = 170)

5. Therefore:

   (- ( 170 ) = -170)

So, (( -80 ) + 0 + ( -90 ) = -170).
