Goal: Add the decimals 20.02 and 2.002 step by step.

1. Write both numbers with the same number of decimal places.
   Add zeros to 20.02 so it has three decimal places like 2.002.

   \(20.02 = 20.020\)

2. Align the decimal points. Write them one under the other.

     20.020
   +  2.002
   --------

3. Add from right to left (thousandths place).

   \(0 + 2 = 2\)

4. Hundredths place.

   \(2 + 0 = 2\)

5. Tenths place.

   \(0 + 0 = 0\)

6. Place the decimal point in the answer directly below the other decimal points.

7. Ones place.

   \(0 + 2 = 2\)

8. Tens place.

   \(2 + 0 = 2\)

Write the full result:

  20.020
+  2.002
--------
  22.022

Answer: \(22.022\)
