1. We want to compare the two fractions: \(\tfrac{11}{16}\) and \(\tfrac{14}{15}\).
2. Use cross-multiplication (this works for positive fractions):
3. Multiply the first numerator by the second denominator: \(11 \times 15 = 165\).
4. Multiply the second numerator by the first denominator: \(14 \times 16 = 224\).
5. Compare the two products: \(165 < 224\).
6. Since \(165\) is smaller, the first fraction is smaller: \[ \tfrac{11}{16} < \tfrac{14}{15}. \]

Note: We didn’t change the fractions—just compared \(11\times15\) with \(14\times16\) to see which fraction is larger.
