2. Find the tenths digit (first digit after the decimal).
   In (20.83), the tenths digit is (8).
3. Look at the next digit (the hundredths place).
   In (20.83), the hundredths digit is (3).
4. Use the rounding rule for tenths:
   If the hundredths digit is (ge 5), increase the tenths digit by (1).
   If the hundredths digit is (< 5), keep the tenths digit the same and drop the rest.
5. Here, (3 < 5), so keep the tenths digit (8) as it is.
6. Drop everything after the tenths place.

So, (20.83) rounded to the nearest tenths is (20.8).
